Impulse – Website Blocker, Screen Time & Focus Control
Overview
Block sites at the times you choose, cap them each day and choose how hard they are to skip. Free.
Impulse curbs the sites that eat your time, with the difficulty you decide. ROUTINES Block sites at the times you choose: for example, 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday. Outside those hours, you get in as usual. LIMITS Set a daily cap of minutes or opens on each site. If you like, a pause before it opens, with your numbers for today. Hit the cap and that site is blocked until tomorrow. ONE-TAB MODE Stay on one tab for as long as you choose. If you go to another site, Impulse asks you to type a phrase first. DIFFICULTY You choose what it takes to turn a rule off early: — Easy: type a phrase. — Medium: wait 60 seconds. — Hard: a code sent to your trusted person (needs an account). — NFC: hold your card to your phone (needs the Impulse app). AND ALSO — Metrics: today’s and this week’s time on each site. — For later: jot down what you were about to do and get back to it later. — Challenges: join one or create your own with other people. — A password to open Impulse, and an alert to your trusted person if you uninstall it. — Impulse on your phone, for iPhone and Android, with the same account. Like any extension, Impulse can be turned off or removed from Chrome. So that removing it isn't the easy way out, you can have it email someone you choose. Your rules are stored on this computer; with an account, you can also save them to it. In English and Spanish.
